Dave - Chief Instructor - Warrior Arts

Dave - Coach at Warrior Arts, Northwood

Summary:

Dave is a highly experienced martial artist and martial arts instructor. He has a documented and provable career in the combat  arts spanning some 30 years. Like his master, Dave doesn’t like titles like Sifu or Sensei and prefers to be called ‘Dave’. His classes are disciplined in that people listen, learn and train hard – but without the need for constant bowing and over formality.

“We live in the west…I don’t see the need to learn terminology in oriental languages or to wear ancient martial arts uniforms or belts…inner respect, a disciplined approach, politeness and a willingness to work hard is what I engender in my classes”

Dave’s passion for what he does comes through in his dedication to his teaching and making sure that people really understand what is being taught.

“I never just turn up and teach, all classes are meticulously planned so that the skills being taught can be learned in a logical and realistic fashion – so that people leave the class having learned something new and practical”

In addition to being a qualified instructor with ten years teaching experience in Fa Jing Ch’uan Kung Fu, he is a black belt holder in the following arts:

  • Japanese Free Style Karate
  • American Kick boxing
  • Korean Full contact Choi Kwang do

“Knowing other martial arts in depth and detail allows me to demystify Fa Jing Ch’uan for new students from other arts. I understand how external martial arts work and where they originate from… This allows me to teach people in terms they understand and can relate to”

Dave takes great pride in teaching all lessons personally to exacting standards. His club is special in that Dave has 5 senior Instructors under him to assist and guide.

“I love teaching martial arts, which is my life’s passion… You never stop learning, martial arts can enrich your life in so many different ways and in these days of increasing violence I see it as a skill everyone must have”
Dave has taught many beginners, who are now seasoned experts and is also an instructor to law enforcement personnel and senior black belts from other styles.

People come to learn new skills and add that extra dimension that may have been missing from their training.

Dave’s instructors are currently present in the in the UK, France and Australia.

Dave is also known for his sometimes raucous sense of humour and his like of the odd glass or two of Cabernet Sauvignon!
